My Project

I teach a fantastic group of 6th-grade students who are eager to learn but benefit greatly from hands-on experiences. Many of my students come from diverse backgrounds and learn best when they can engage with math in a tangible way. They thrive when they can see, touch, and manipulate objects to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts.

These manipulatives will allow students to visualize abstract concepts, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and build confidence in their abilities.

The materials I’m requesting, including fraction tiles, 3D geometric nets, logic games, algebra tiles, polyhedra dice and tangrams (just to name a few), will help bring math to life. Whether they are exploring fractions, geometry, or place value, these tools will make math more interactive and engaging.

My goal with this project is to create a dynamic, hands-on learning environment where all students—regardless of their learning style—can succeed. By using manipulatives, students who struggle with traditional methods will have an opportunity to grasp key concepts in a way that makes sense to them. I want to empower my students to become confident mathematicians who see math as something they can master, not something to fear.

What makes my students special is their resilience and determination. They are hard workers who face challenges head-on, and with the right resources, I know they can achieve great things. These materials will not only help them in my classroom but will also build a strong foundation for their future success in math and beyond.
