Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title 1 school located in a low-social economic neighborhood near Downtown Los Angeles, 100 percent of the student population qualify for the free or reduced lunch program.
The students in my classroom are students with learning disabilities but they come to school everyday with a great big smile on their faces.
My class is made up of students with a range of disabilities, such as Autism, Intellectually Delayed, Health Impairments, and Specific Learning Disabilities. Many of them have physical challenges as well that impair their learning but they come to school eager to learn and take on new challenges.
My Project
My students LOVE math. They also enjoy learning through games, which is why I would like to provide them with math centers that will help reinforce math skills while we are working in small group centers. The First Grade Math Folder Libraries have everything my young students need to practice independently skills such as Geometry, Measurement and Data, and Place Value. The Pre-K-Kindergarten Set will be used in small groups with the Pre-k and Kinder students so that they know what to do when practicing with a parent. These games will provide them with the additional practice needed to succeed.
