Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Memorizing math facts using flashcards can be quite a drag after any given amount of time, right? So what should we have students do? I let my third grade class play games!

No matter how many sets of flashcards, practice worksheets, or reminders I give students, some just don't memorize their math facts. And then they wonder why their math takes them so long to complete. So instead of doing more of the same, I want to spice it up a bit. I would like to incorporate the use of math fact games to help my students memorize their facts.

I am requesting self-checking math match-ups which allow students to practice various concepts in a puzzle-type format; math function boxes that allow students to put a problem in a "machine" that spits the answer right back out; markers for students to record their answers for the math machines; Digitz multiplication games that have students practice with lights, sounds, and buttons; and a Light & Strike math game where students hit their answers into a giant calculator using a mallet. All of these resources will disguise learning in a fun, active way!
