My Students

I work at a K-8 Title I school located in the heart of Harlem. Our vibrant neighborhood is filled with a rich history. At our school, most students receive free or reduced rate lunch. Although not rich in resources, my first graders are the most amazing, passionate, curious thinkers, builders, and explorers. They are learning and growing every day. They enjoy coming to school, love all subjects, and have a desire to learn. They motivate me and enrich my passion for teaching. In an effort to close the achievement gap, I would like to provide my students with the resources to enhance learning opportunities.

My Project

Math games are a fun way to reiterate skills and have students practice what they have learned. Math games assist in student learning without students even know they are learning. This is precisely why I would like math games for my first grade students.

If funded, students will be able to use these resources within a small group, partnerships, or independently.

These materials can and will be used during our math centers, Fun math Fridays, or when students finish their work early.

These materials will make an impact on student learning in math.

All students will have access to them. The activities are first grade leveled, allowing students to work on skills in our math units so they can be prepared for the second grade. Some students will be able to work to remediate skills, while others will receive extra practice to strengthen skills. It's a win-win situation for all.
