I have taught at my school for 15 years and this is my fifth year teaching Kindergarten. I am so excited to be my students' first teacher. They are bright eyed and ready to take on the world.
My class comes from a diverse background of cultures and experiences.
We have Mandarin, Spanish, Hindi, Korean and Japanese languages represented in our class. The kids have loving, hard-working parents and many of the kids are involved in swimming and soccer.
The things they all have in common is their love of learning. They are excited to be in school, they look to each other as equals and they are curious about their world.
My Project
The math games will be used in small groups during our Intervention Block so the kids have a chance to learn the rules, take turns, and cooperate. We will use the calendar and counting activities on a daily basis.
Playing games in school gives the children a natural and fun way to learn counting and addition.
Making math activities fun for Kindergarten is motivating and developmentally appropriate for this age.
Our Star Student of the Week will guide the class in calendar activities and counting how many days we have been in school. This reinforces counting by tens and ones as well as how to write numbers beyond 100!
