My Students

I work at a Title I elementary school with 80% free and reduced price lunches. We have high numbers of English Language Learners as well. I teach all day kindergarten with 36 students. Most of them did not attend preschool and now they are experiencing school for the first time.

Many of my students come to school needing food, clothes to wear, and a hug from me.

Despite their personal challenges, my students love learning and are eager to come to school every day.

My Project

Math and numbers are a difficult concepts for many kindergarten students to grasp. Making math fun and hands-on can be time consuming and costly. I am asking for a variety of math resources including two sets of Snap and Slide Number Bonds, a set of Sequencing Numbers 1-30 Puzzles, a Making Ten Instant Learning Center and a Comparing Numbers 1-10 Instant Learning Center. My students would use these materials during their centers and free choice time. My students love to be active in their learning. Bright and colorful make games and manipulatives really help engage students and make math fun. The majority of my students have not attended preschool and need math activities that can grab their attention and encourage them to keep working hard and not give up. A strong math foundation is key to future math success.
