Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This upcoming school year, my 2nd graders will be starting a new math curriculum that is aimed to support them in number sense, place value, and knowledge of and manipulation of money. After a few years of interrupted learning, my students will also need a supportive and calming classroom environment to learn in.

My project aims to provide hands-on math materials to support learning in a calm, representative classroom.

Many of my students have received varying levels of math instruction due to the pandemic. My hope is to support all of the needs in my classroom by offering different math manipulatives to support learning. I also want to build a classroom with calming color tones so that all students have the best environment to learn in. I would like to decorate the room with self-portraits of the students using appropriate skin tones so that students will be able to see this room as their own!
