Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I plan on using the tiered carts to store and hold the fake fruit! Once the materials are shipped, my students will take a trip to the local grocery store where they can see appropriate prices for our fruits. After deciding on an appropriate cost, the students will label the fruits and engage in daily work where they will have to find the total of items they want to buy, use fake money from the cash register to pay, and (if they are the cashier for the day) they will have to appropriately subtract to return the correct amount of change to their customer. When students are provided meaningful and engaging experiences to apply their knowledge, they create real-world connections and participate in higher-level thinking!
