Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom come from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds. My students are on the autism spectrum and each face their own challenges, however, they each have their own strengths and abilities! My students are 3 and 4 years old and for many, this is their first school experience! They have to cope with separation anxiety, learn the routine of school and the structure of the day. They require visual supports to get them through their school day.

My students are creative, enthusiastic, and strong!

They love to move, listen to stories, sing songs, and love lots of positive attention! We learn during small and large group time. We also have a great deal of individual one on one learning! I focus on each child's individual potential each day. They are all so different and unique!

My Project

We are looking to add to our Math and ELA centers to give my students more opportunities to gain important reading and math skills. My students are very hands-on learners! They are young, active and need to be engaged in hands on activities! These activities will also be used at home for remote learning days!

My students all learn differently and their abilities vary.

Some students are working on letter identification, while others are working on word building and reading sight words. Some of my students require more challenging activities to meet their needs. This project consists of numerous ELA activities such as word puzzles, build a word crayon boxes, and an alphabet mystery box! We included macaroni and tweezers so we can create sensory activities such as hiding letters in macaroni and they use the tweezers to find the letters. This is working on sensory, reading and also fine motor skills! Also included in this project are math activities to include in our math center! Thank you in advance for helping my classroom become a more effective learning environment!
