My Project

My school is a Title I school with a wonderfully diverse group of students. The majority of my students are ELL (English Language Learners). The students I teach are kind and hard-working. They work hard to learn and do their best to understand what is being taught. Students struggle to understand math and some basic foundational skills. This struggle has caused them to hesitate to participate and be involved in our math lessons.

Using whiteboards has been shown to help students be more willing to participate in math lessons.

When students know that they can erase their answers, they feel more comfortable putting in the effort. These double sided dry erase boards help to teach kids about place value, number concepts, operations, and measurements. Each board features two ways to learn place value skills. One side of the board can be used to help students learn to write numbers from decimals to billions in standard, word and expanded form. The other side of the board is a regrouping chart so students can visually represent each number in a problem, then regroup to work out the answer!
