Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the epitome of resilience, and are the shining lights in their communities. They are coming from all walks of life, and from all across the world. School for them is more than a place of learning - it’s a safe environment, a warm meal, and sometimes the only consistency they have.

With a demographic that is 100% economically disadvantaged, these students will be facing an extra set of challenges this year due to Covid- 19.

Not only are they coming from a demographic that is the hardest hit by the deadly virus, but they are coming from families that may be facing housing issues and job loss. This year these students will have to navigate both virtual and in person learning and my goal is to create a learning environment where children feel safe physically and emotionally, and they are getting the high quality education they deserve.

My Project

I am looking to makeover my Math Classroom in a way that is functional for my students! Our school was built in 1952 and has aged over time with little remodeling done to the classrooms. In order to create a better space for my students the portable shelving would allow for clean personal spaces to put learning materials that would eliminating clutter, loss of materials, and allow for extra space for the students. The flexibility of a foldable table would allow for unlimited possibilities in a classroom that has no wall shelving or cubbies. We can use it as a counter top or take it outside to take learning outside the classroom! The Cricut would allow for fun ways to get creative in a space and really make students excited about their learning! When students feel like they have autonomy over their space and are comfortable in their environment it has positives outcomes on their overall performance thought out the year! Help me give my students the best Math Classroom!
