Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from a low-income community where 93% of the families are economically disadvantaged and live in poverty, and 99% are minorities. Most of my students have not had the privilege to explore their interests and the world outside of the classroom. Despite being disadvantaged, my students are eager to learn and crave new experiences. I am hoping to open up their minds about the wonders of math and how fun learning can be.

This project will allow my economically disadvantaged students to practice and master math skills in a more non-traditional way (by way of exploration)!

I plan on using the math games like place value bingo and The Allowance Game, manipulatives like fraction circles and number lines, boards, and timer to set up math stations where students can rotate and enhance their math skills while they have fun with their peers. My students deserve the opportunity to gain interest in the STEM field at an early age.
