This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The best way to describe the students I teach are resilient dedicated learners. I describe them this way because they all live in an urban school district and almost all of them come from either low-income or poverty neighborhoods, along with either seen or experienced trauma in their lives. Even though their home life is difficult, they come to school each day with a smile on their face and the motivation to do their best. I am amazed at how they can concentrate on learning when they have many problems at home or in their neighborhoods. They are excited to study and learn in hopes of being the first child in their families to go to college and make a better life for their families.
I want equity for my classroom.
Since my school is 100% free lunch, most of my students do not have money for basic school supplies. With this donation, I will be able to supply them with items their neighboring suburban 8th grade students use in their Algebra classroom.
My Project
This project will help the students in my class. I would like to supplement my students learning by using binders in math class for note taking, holding classwork that is not done online. The binders will stay in my classroom and each student will have their own. The notes they will take in class will help them with their summative assessments. Each color of binders will correspond to each class and will build community in my classrooms. Please help my students have a great school with these fun colorful binders.
