Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students come to school with little knowledge of mathematical concepts. I want to give my students plenty of opportunities to build their math skills in fun and exciting ways. Sometimes kindergarten is the beginning of school for most and I want to take them as far as I can.

I teach kindergarten at a Title I school where most of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

Almost half of my students are non-english speaking. Each day my students work in math centers on skills that have been taught. They are also given time to explore and discover through hands-on learning activities. We need some new and fun math centers and activities that will engage my students in concrete learning. The materials I am requesting will keep center time fresh and exciting. The skills these activities will reinforce are ones they will use for the rest of their lives. That includes recognizing numbers, counting, seriation, and money value. Budget cuts have eliminated the ability to provide meaningful resources for our students. We have to spend any money we have on supplies for our classroom that we can't teach school without and do not have any money left to purchase games and activities for our students.

My Project

This is where you come in! I need you to help me provide my students with tools that will best suit their learning needs. I am requesting money sorting registers, number sequencing puzzles, addition games, counting rings, and a comparing sizes box. I can just see my students using these resources and having tons of fun while learning! Each resource you will be providing will give my students the opportunity of hands on learning in which kindergarteners learn best! My students will have a blast using these new activities.
