Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The excitement of working out a problem on a whiteboard in front of the class never seems to lose its appeal! Especially when you have four boards, students racing each other to get the right answer, and colorful markers to boot!

My class is a self contained, sixth grade class of English language learners.

The one thing they love to do during any lesson, but especially in English and math, is work out problems on the whiteboards. Whether they are working with partners on individual boards, or coming up to the front of the class to work out problems in front of the class, the novelty of writing on boards as opposed to simple paper allows for increased engagement and student participation.

My Project

I am requesting whiteboard markers in various colors, whiteboard cleaner, and erasers. These materials will be used by myself and the students when we work on either our mini boards or when we do work on our larger boards at the front of the class. The students love to work problems out on whiteboards, and they get participation points for getting correct answers, so when they are in small groups or partners, they have double the drive to get engaged!

Working on whiteboards proves to be engaging, and fun for the kids, and colorful markers make it even more enjoyable!
