I believe students learn when they are having fun and as a new kindergarten teacher, I want my students to always remember their kindergarten classroom. I want to incorporate sensory bins into my center time to allow them to grow their motor and gross skills through these sensory bins, while still giving them educational purposes. These sensory bins are one of the easiest, most effective, and engaging ways to learn and explore while using our senses. Sensory bins offer the kids a hands-on way to explore their world using their hands and senses! Our sensory bins give the kids a chance to explore the world through different materials and fillers and textures! Sensory bins can be calming for our students too!
I plan to use these bins that my students can use during their math and literacy center time.
Each month these bins will look a little different depending on what season/holiday/unit we are working on. In these bins, there will either be letters/letter patterns/numbers, etc that they will be picking out of the bin to work on specific skills we are working on during each unit. Sensory bins provide a differentiated learning activity as well as the benefits of sensory play.
