Materials Needed

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I teach at a Title I school in New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive backpacks with supplies in the beginning of the school year, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families.

Our school serves students in pre-k through fifth grades and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment.

Our goal is to prepare our students for success in middle school, high school and college. However, there are times when we do not have the supplies we need.

My Project

As a fourth grade teacher, writing and reading everyday is essential for any learner. Having extra pencils is necessary for my students to learn and grow as writers. We also need paper towels and hand sanitizer because we don't want to spread germs during flu season. Since we use pencils all day long we really need a new pencil sharpener. The classroom caddies will be used for art supplies this year. I teach a class called Literature and Art which bridges literature and the arts. The students love it because they get to bring their stories to life through pictures.
