My Students

Our class is full of excited, eager-to-learn 1st graders, each of them from a different background bringing diversity to the table. We are in full distance learning, but each student joins in with a smile on their face and ready to take on the day.

These children are bright.

They share wonderful ideas daily. They are full of questions about the world around them. Each day, I am amazed by the ideas and discussions these children come up with!

After a year online, we are back in the classroom together. There are still challenges we face trying to navigate this new learning environment after a pandemic. Despite these challenges, I am continuously impressed by my students.

My Project

Giving students hands on materials are extremely beneficial to the learning environment, especially this year in first grade after almost an entire year of online learning.

Each of these materials will serve a specific purpose for my students that will align with the Nevada Academic Content Standards.

The headphones will allow my students to have access to auditory materials on their Chrome Books. This will help students take their MAPs assessment as they need the ability to hear portions of the test. Students will also use the headphones as they gain access to many different online resources, including CANVAS, which is our online learning platform. The resources are to help students practice a variety of Nevada Academic Standards. (RF.1.2, RF.1.3, RF.1.4, RL.1.1-RL.1.10, RI.1.1-RI1.10)

The paper, laminating sheets, dice, counters, and the different organization materials will help to create and organize math centers and materials. (1.OA.A1, 1.OA.A2, 1.OA.B3, 1.OA.B4, 1.OA.C5, 1.OA.C6, 1.OA.D7, 1.OA.D8, 1.MD.B.3)

The magnetic letters will be used for intervention resources to help with building foundational skills focusing on phonics. (RF.1.3, L.1.2.D)

The magnetic tiles will be a STEM center for students to practice solving problems and building models.
