Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou. This quote from Maya Angelou is our class motto. My objective is for my students to continue to be motivated and challenged so that they can keep boosting their own confidence and achieving success to fully develop their self-potential.

I teach a group of special education students who experience learned helplessness every day because they were told that their disability hinders their learning.

In reality, all they truly need is to rediscover the joy of learning. And once that light bulb clicks, my students can bring a positive classroom energy that continually inspires and motivates others. Our school provides such a stimulating, collaborative, and safe environment for students of various differences and abilities that students are often celebrated for their diversity and achievements. I work for a school where teachers put students first.

My Project

Our students live in a media-suffused environment. With these flexible seating options and set of headphones, students will be able to access an abundance of information and the ability to collaborate on a global scale. Students will be able to use technology by pulling up video news links to do research, reading articles on NewsELA for literacy, and accessing any cloud-based-curriculum such as Khan Academy for math and science. Students will also be able to take control of their learning and their own pace with teacher-made videos or any differentiated task assigned to them. My students won't really have to worry about any noise that may disrupt the learning of other peers. Overall with this project, my students will be able to effectively create and utilize information, media, and technology with ease. It also targets a great population of my students, who are mostly visual and auditory learners.

This project is important to us because it takes our 21st-century classroom to the next step by integrating face-to-face instruction with digital education to give rise to a powerful learning experience.

Not only does it give students an opportunity to create and think independently but it also allows them to reach others on a grander scale through blogs, news links, and virtual communication. The 2 flexible seating options also afford student choice that lend themselves to working in small groups. They are adaptable, flexible, and lightweight for mobilization purposes. Students will participate more and they will have more invigorating conversations. They will continue to stay informed, allowing them to be more environmentally self-aware thus changing the way our class environment looks and feels.
