Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a very diverse student population of almost 1500 students. Our students love school. It is a safe haven for them in a rough neighborhood. They arrive early for breakfast and stay late for our after-school program.

We hope to give them opportunities that will encourage and change their lives forever.

It's clubs like Knight's middle school cheer that help build future leaders. We push our students to be critical thinkers and leaders within our school and their community. When our students graduate from our school, they leave ready to enter the workforce or college. Our students know that once they graduate, they will have a bright future. Over 97% of the students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and more than half are learning English as a second language. We want our students to know that education is the key to their success.

My Project

Our cheerleaders need warm-up pants! We are excited and ready to attend school fully in person this year! Our cheerleaders are the heart of the school and the community! They work hard to promote positivity in our new building. We are getting ready for the upcoming basketball season and the colder weather. Team warm-up pants will give the girls confidence as they participate in various events. We are also requesting a wagon to transport our materials and black vinyl to personalize our things. Finally, the boxes will be used to store our bows. This opportunity will help cut down the costs and fees for parents. So many of our families on the East side struggle daily, even more now due to the pandemic. The funding of this project will give students a chance to be a part of something they love!
