My Project

Cells are the building blocks of all living things and the basis of understanding a lot of concepts in every high school biology class. However, because cells are microscopic, students often struggle to learn their parts (called organelles) as well as the phases of the cell cycle (how they divide to make more cells).

My students are visual and kinesthetic learners, using models and manipulatives helps them to visualize and master concepts.

These mitosis models will replace an old, broken, less accurate set that has been in my school district long before I started teaching there twenty years ago. I would love to have a new, more accurate set of models to help my students grasp important concepts in our class for many years to come. Students will use these models to help practice labeling the organelles and their functions, as well as being able to manipulate them in order to show how cells divide.
