Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach 7th grade classes in which I have a combination of students that includes students with English limitations, as well as students with learning disabilities which can benefit from differentiated instruction. The use of advanced technology such as an iPad can help engage these students while learning math. My school is in a suburban neighborhood. More than three fourths of the students are Hispanic descent and come from low-income families and have free or reduced lunch.

Many of my students lack confidence in their math abilities, thinking they are just "not good" at math.

I would like to motivate my students and help them be successful in math. These students can be motivated by the use of an iPad Pro. The use of this technology can enhance their learning and motivation as they engage in solving real world problems using this technology in a way that can't be done with books. Some of these students can't afford to purchase a computer and being able to use it in the class will motivate them to learn.

My Project

This iPad Pro will make a difference in my students' lives, learning and success in my class. Many of them think that they are not good in math and can't do it. This tool will let them work at their own pace and get automatic feedback as they engage in solving rigorous real world math problems.

My students can be motivated by the use of real-time data available at their finger tips that only technology can offer.

This tool will make them change the way they feel about math. With so many available resources online, my students will be working on their weaknesses in math as they use software that will diagnose and target their needs. This way I will have individualized, differentiated instruction for each of them and their needs will be fulfilled.

They will see math from another angle as they connect to the world and enjoy the use of this state of the arts tool.
