Help me give my students supplies that will help them to continue with learning they were so accustomed to while in school, with dry erase boards, earbuds, pencils, and more.

My Students

In the community where I teach my students can be easily motivated, very creative, and hard workers. When asked to complete work or explain work, they always surprise me with their very interesting answers. Their neighborhood is a tough neighborhood and they face many challenges on a daily basis.

For the past two years our school was given the state score's rating which was Improvement Required (a F), but last school year we finished the year with a "B" rating and we are no longer facing closure.

I moved with my class from third grade to fifth because they accomplished so much and I want to keep them motivated.

Right now we are all facing a pandemic that we were not prepared for. We left school for Spring Break with the intention we would return, but we were all surprised. Students left without notebooks, pencils, crayons and other learning supplies. What a surprise!

My Project

As we prepare our fifth graders for sixth grade we planned on a spectacular send off, but it had nothing to do with a pandemic, virtual learning, possibly not seeing each other anymore ending. I have been spoiling these students since third grade with projects from DonorsChoose.

Of all the projects I would have to say this one means the most to getting my students back on track.

We have to teach live for four days out of the week and many times our students are running looking for supplies. By receiving composition books, pencils, and erasers, scholars will be able to show their work nice and neat making them feel proud. The whiteboards and dry eraser markers will help assist in virtual learning. When students are asked to show answers they can write quickly and reveal on camera. Virtual learning can be quite tricky at home, because everyone is home as well. Scholars using the earbuds can block out background noises and stay focused.

Teachers are also struggling to teach virtually as well. Having a standing dry erase board helps the teacher to make learning fun and easily accessible. These necessary supplies will definitely make students get some sense of familiarity and then we can continue to prepare them for their middle school future.
