Our school strives to help students become well-rounded citizens by weaving 21st-century interdisciplinary themes into our curriculum. These themes include global awareness, financial literacy, civic literacy, health literacy, and environmental literacy.
Our students are bright, curious, kind, creative, and hard-working.
Our aim is to provide all students access to technology, books, and materials that they might not have at home. DonorsChoose and donors like you help us fill in any gaps. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of these special children!
My Project
My students love bookmarks. I have different students ask me each and every day if I have any bookmarks for them to have. They love using them to keep their places in long books. Some kids like collecting different designs. I like getting them excited about reading!
I have been using cardstock to create blank bookmarks, but I'd love to jump start 2021 with dozens of new ones!
This many bookmarks will definitely last us the rest of the school year. I usually offer a few designs at a time and then introduce new designs every few weeks. I plan on giving each student a special bookmark in celebration of World Read Aloud Day. I especially like the one with reading tips. We are currently in school four days a week with remote learning on Fridays. Students have been able to borrow books for home since October. These bookmarks will be for home use and students will get to keep them.
I know my students' faces will light up when they receive their new bookmarks. Anything we can do to bring some excitement to reading is a win in my book!
