This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I’m looking to start an elementary mariachi band at my school, and I’m so excited to bring this opportunity to my students — but we need some help getting started. I’m asking for three pTrumpets to help build the foundation of our group. These are plastic trumpets designed for young beginners. They’re lightweight, durable, and sound great — perfect for elementary kids who are just learning to play.

A big part of mariachi is the trumpet section, and with these instruments, students can jump right into learning how to play in a way that’s fun, hands-on, and accessible.

Regular brass trumpets are expensive and heavy, but pTrumpets give us the same musical experience at a much lower cost — and with much more durability for classroom use.

The goal of this project is to get our mariachi program off the ground and give students the tools they need to start learning right away. We want to build their skills, their confidence, and their connection to music that reflects their culture. This group is more than just a band — it’s a way for students to feel seen and valued through music that matters to them.

My students are amazing. They’re curious, energetic, and full of heart. A lot of them don’t have access to instruments or private lessons, so being able to offer something like this at school means everything. They light up when they hear mariachi music — there’s this instant sense of pride and belonging. I want to give them a chance to be part of something special.
