This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The world around us is so complex when you don't have any maps or globes to help foster your learning.

My students live in low income housing in the inner city.

At our public school over 90% receive free breakfast and lunch benefits. Most of my students have never been outside of the city limits. Geography is unknown to them and it is up to me to teach them what is beyond the city and across the world.

My Project

Having never left the city, my students will be able to see and begin to understand how large the world is around them with help from current maps and globes. They will be able to comprehend the world around them. Students will gain the knowledge of map skills, locating countries of the world, and understanding the impact of geography on the cultures and countries of the world.

My students need to be given the chance to learn about their country and other countries around the world.

This understanding is an important skill for my students to gain which will help them in their future. Please help build their understanding and knowledge of the world we live in.
