My Project

I am a first time preschool teacher and one of my goals is to provide the children with activities of interest that will help them to learn. In all the years I've been in the education field I've seen how young children love to do activities that they can touch. It becomes more realistic to them.

Young children love to stay busy and by donating manipulative items that they can stack, build, and mold is essential to their development.

Giving them options of different types of manipulative play such as Magna-Tiles, Play- doh, and kinetic sand. This allows them to learn construction play and actively engage their sense of touch, thereby enhancing their fine motor skills.Then when asked, "what did you build" or they say, "Ms. T look what I did" because they are so happy with their creation. They then describe what they built as a house, castle, or tower. Manipulative play helps to provide creative play, which teaches children how to share and use critical thinking.

Since my class is a new up running class, materials will be very limited and it would be great to have materials that children love to interact with, so that they may learn, play, and smile!
