This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning to read music is an important skill, but we don't have any notes to read! We need some music notes in our music class!

I teach music to about 400 first through fifth graders in a Hispanic and African-American dominated urban school.

Music is not considered to be part of the core curriculum, so I am not given an annual budget to spend on my classroom. As a result, we are missing many classroom items that other districts take for granted.

My Project

Having a set of musical die cuts would allow my students to have an unlimited amount of music notes, rests, and other music symbols. We would use these notes to make posters of our favorite songs so that we could learn to read, sing, and play instruments. Also, having music die cuts would make it easier for students to create their own songs by moving the paper notes around to form new rhythms and melodies.

Your help will make it possible for my students to have a more rewarding musical experience by providing them with a set of music die cuts which we can use for years to come to help us read and make beautiful music!
