My Project

In an effort to help students express their creativity, build community, and learn self-care, I am creating a manicure and mindfulness workshop for students during the second half of their advisory period.

Students will participate in several stations which include nail painting and decorating, meditative coloring, manicures, and hand massages.

While in groups, students will use discussion prompts about their values, how to create a caring community, and methods for mindfulness to connect. There will be nails of all lengths and shapes to design. There will also be supplies such as nail files, cuticle sticks, nail polish and nail polish remover at the manicure stations. Students will help lead stations and also be participants. In addition, alcohol wipes and towels will help keep the space clean and disinfected.

The goal of this project is to create a safe and engaging space for students to share their feelings, express their creativity, and practice self-care and mindfulness. I hope that this will help improve the mental health and social-emotional skills of my students.
