My Students

Money, Shapes, Numbers, OH MY!!! Math is everywhere around us. We use math at the grocery store, when we cook, even when watching TV! It is vital for our students to grasp the concept of time, money, geometry, and addition and subtraction.

I have a classroom full (19 total) of energetic, fun, and intelligent first graders.

They come to me on many different levels of knowledge, but they ALL are eager to learn. Math is one of their weaker, yet favorite subject areas. We learn at a rural, Texas school and desperately need more materials to help these kiddos learn the math concepts they so desperately need.

My Project

Math is such a hands-on subject for first graders. At this age, it is important for them to be moving and engaged in their learning. Math magnetic boards and games will be a wonderful addition to our classes' math work stations. It is a fun way for my students to learn. Let's face it....who doesn't want to learn in a super fun way?

Adding fun and educational materials to our classroom math workstations will greatly improve my student's success in math.

The basic math fundamentals that are taught in first grade are essential for a student's growth throughout their school years. Engaging these students will not only help them be successful but will increase their love of math.
