My Project

Manga books (Japanese style comics) have proven to be highly popular reads for young adults. Often, as they are linked to popular anime movies or shows, and feature graphics, students find a higher level of engagement and interest in reading these types of titles.

This project would help me add Manga books to my class library for students to take out during independent reading time or after school.

As a teacher, I have seen how students engaged in reading manga often perform at a higher level in reading comprehension and literacy tests as they engage in literature more frequently. With this in mind, it's my hope that by providing students with these books, they'll feel more engaged in reading in general!
