This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
All of my students are English language learners who live in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx and all of them qualify for free lunch. Most of them have been living the US for about 1-2 years and some are newcomers who have barely been in the country 2-5 months.
What I love about my students is that they, despite being very young, have endured so many stories of tragedy and misfortune, but they still smile and work hard in the classroom.
How can this not give any teacher strength and motivation to keep being a teacher? They are special because they are minorities who are trying to find the way to succeed in this poor section of the Bronx, but they don't give up.
My Project
I will use these materials to teach lab activities that are based on: 1) Diffusion of iodine and glucose, 2) Testing for starch, 3) Testing for sugar, 4) Cellular respiration in yeast and humans, 5) Photosynthesis, 6) Testing for acids and bases, 7) Water pollution.
The requested balances and chemicals will make a big difference in my students' learning because they need to complete a set of laboratory activities in order to meet the state requirements to sit for the regents exam in biology.
This will also help them obtain better grades in class.
