My Students

My students are wonderful young people. They have a hunger to learn and minds that want to be molded and shaped. At our school, we ask every student to begin the year writing a narrative. What is your story? We love hearing their stories and helping them in turn discover their voices.

You can usually hear them laughing.

Down the hallway, even behind closed doors. My students have a positive and effervescent spirit that cannot be distinguished. Many come to school behind, and eager to catch up to peers. Others come to school for a safe space. Too many of our students come from lives that are rich with adversity and hardship at an early age. These experiences have molded our students into strong, passionate young people. Our school believes in providing our young people with support to succeed. Smaller class sizes, supportive educators, and creative instruction allow our students to thrive. They have a yearning to achieve in the future and become significant individuals. We provide them with guidance and love so that those dreams can become a reality. They lead exciting, interesting lives and they all have unique stories to tell. We want our students to find their voices and continue writing their stories for years to come.

My Project

Our entire school starts the year off with writing narratives. We ask them to look introspectively and examine their identity. Malala is a hero throughout our halls. She is someone for our students to look up to and learn about. She is in their generation and she is making positive waves throughout society. We have been incorporating her story and her fight for freedom into our curriculum. Students have been learning about cultures outside their own and stepping outside their comfort zones. This project will allow our students to see her story first-hand and learn about her life. The documentary will help inspire students to make positive changes towards women's educational rights and human rights. This is a learning experience that is not limited by the four walls of a classroom. This will be something that will stay with our students for years to come. This could be the turning point that they need in their educational journey.

This project will mean everything for our students.

It will allow us to bring their learning to life and make influential connections. In addition, this project will grant students the chance to explore outside of the school building. Many students live very limited lives and have not been exposed to the culture and art that the city brings. This project creates opportunities for our students. They deserve opportunities. They deserve futures. They deserve to have their stories be heard.
