My Students

Do you remember as a student having a great idea or having an assignment you were proud of only to be disappointed when the teacher was the only person to see your hard work. My students can use a document camera with the multimedia project we already have to share their work.

The students in the classes are creative, talented, and eager at being a part of a learning community.

By the number of hands that shoot up when they want to share their work I am eager to be sure all of their voices are heard. I can see in their eyes the fun they have when they know they have a good idea which generates discussion among all class members. This is the type of community I wish to foster.

My Project

With the ELMO, a document camera, students will be the leaders of the class. They will make their thinking visible by displaying their best work to the whole class instead of just the students in their lab groups. The document camera can be used with our current multimedia project, and it will allow students to share their authentic work. The document camera also has a microscope attachment. Remember how much you enjoyed looking at objects through the microscope? Our students will take the lead in displaying and explaining the microscopic images that will be sure to broaden their understanding of the microscopic world and enhance their learning.

Having students take pride in their work and wanting to share their thinking with their classmates is invaluable.

The ELMO document camera along with our current multimedia projector will be a step towards a more student centered classroom. A classroom where ideas are encouraged and shared.
