This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is full of creative, critical thinkers. They love to learn and, more importantly, ask questions. I want to grow that love of learning further through art and STEM activities in my classroom.

Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district.

My wonderful classroom consists of 27 brilliant students. 4 of my students are English language learners, and 2 of them receive special services.

Over 66% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunches. Our sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our classrooms and school. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day and basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun.

This project will supply our students with a much-needed set of headphones for working on their school iPads. For first grade, all of their programs use sound. There is also an item to help them store them safely to extend the life of the headphones.

I also have items in here for upcoming STEM and art projects. One of which is a bridge construction project for our engineering unit. They will use the popcicle sticks to construct a bridge of their choice. They will also use those to create structures that must float in water! Another is to make animal models with the styrofoam balls! The canvases will be used for paint pouring and other painting projects come up. There are also supplies on the list for many upcoming art projects including a holiday art project!
