Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In almost every class, there is a prompt/activity for the students to complete at the beginning or end of the period. We then dive into projects; drawing, painting & making collages are all part of our daily routine.

My students come from all over New York City.

More than 65% get free lunch and come from families that can not fully provide for them. My students like the small school environment, the faculty, & each other. They want to learn to draw and create art, however many lack the confidence that they can be artists and I want to show them how they can.

My Project

I am requesting 1 LCD projector for our classroom. If I have a projector in my classroom, it will open the doors to many more opportunities for my students. I will be able to create slide shows and power-points, show examples of art and pull up websites and activities. In my art club, I would love to use a projector to help us make the mural we are going to be creating. Students will be able to trace images and see graphics on a large scale. Being able to offer these options will only broaden the students' understanding and really help reinforce the concepts.

Introducing technology into the classroom is an important feature and learning tool.

Some standards require students to use and understand many aspects of technology in the classroom. We live in a society where technology is everywhere and my classroom should be as up-to-date as it can!
