My Project

My Students

I work with a diverse group of students with disabilities in a high school math special day class program.

My students often struggle to understand and apply new concepts in geometry, but they love hands-on activities. They need tools and different ways to show their learning to show mastery of math concepts. Manipulatives bring learning to life for my classroom.

My Project

My students need more math tools to help them explore new ideas in geometry. I am hoping to develop new lessons using the Patty Paper Geometry book and the patty paper to show students geometry theorems using hands-on materials. The Exploragons math manipulatives will give them the opportunity to make models of the shapes and angles we are studying in class. This will help them show what they know while working on their problem solving skills. As they progress, they will be able to do team projects using the chart paper to share their work with the class.
