My students need 30 copies each of 4 "No Fear Shakespeare" titles, including "Othello," "Hamlet," "The Taming of the Shrew," and "A Mid Summer Night's Dream." Also, they need a DVD/VHS player to watch the film adaptations of these plays.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach 11th and 12th grade English in a high-need, charter school in Michigan. My students are beautiful souls, and it is my honor to be their teacher.
My students have shown a deep interest in learning more about the stories that William Shakespeare wrote. As most teens tend to enjoy, any type of media will grab their attention. With the times as they are, neither myself or my school can afford to purchase the materials that would bridge one of the best authors of all times to my students.
I have requested help in purchasing copies of four Shakespeare plays: Othello, The Taming of the Shrew, A Mid Summer Night's Dream, and Hamlet. I have copies of the film adaptations of these plays, so I have also requested a DVD/VHS player to play them on. The reason why I have chosen these items is to help engage my students more fully in the appreciation and understanding of Shakespeare's writing and lessons.
Anyone with children, or who work work them, knows that it is not always an easy task to engage a teenager when there is TV to be watched, music to listen to, and a computer to surf the net on. However, when you spark that interest, it is vital to snag it and run with it. My students have shown that interest, and I am asking for you to help me, help them, to gain the knowledge and life lessons that can help them grow into their next stage of life.
