This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day excited for the new challenges that await them that day. Each day, they are reminded that they were selected to be in my class because I asked for the best students in the school, and that's exactly what I got. I let them know that they can do anything if they believe in themselves as much as I believe in them.

I teach at a Title I school where more than half of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Many of their families struggle just to make ends meet. You would never know it from the passion and enthusiasm they show each morning when they come to our classroom. They want to be here because they know that if they give their best, they can achieve anything in life.

My Project

A strong science curriculum is very important for 21st century learners. Science hits so many of our core academic foundations (reading, writing, math, and science) that it's almost irresponsible to not fit in as much science as we can throughout our day. The most important thing that science does is that it teaches our kids to think, and question, and wonder. The problem with science is that a lot of it is not relatable to kids.

In order to get children to love science we have to find a way to get them motivated about science.

I cannot think of a think that children are more universally fond of than bubbles. Using this bubble kit will be the entry point I need to get kids into a science unit that will incorporate all the core standards we are trying to hit. We will read about bubbles, we will calculate the circumference of bubbles, we will create a science project to write about our bubbles, and we will present our findings about bubbles. This is an awesome project that I can't wait to get started with the class.
