My Students

School classrooms can often be a very dull place. My classroom is made more dynamic by incorporating film, art, discussion, and interesting texts into my classes so that students are better able to "see" themselves in the subject content.

My students are creative, active, boisterous, and curious.

They want to know more about the world outside of their small town. They love music, movies, and being involved in the community. Our school is the center of the town and students receive a lot of support from members within it. My students enjoy creating whether it is through painting, drawing, or writing short stories. These outlets give them an opportunity to express themselves, while also demonstrating mastery of Social Studies content.

My Project

I am requesting multiple books covering the local history of this area which I will use in two of my history classes. I am requesting graphic novels (Berlin and Persephone) for students to read in Modern World History. Students need to be able to communicate and express their ideas through visual mediums in addition to just text based assignments. I am requesting canvases for painting and pens for cartooning, which will be used in my American Studies and Government classes. I am requesting movies to show in my Government, Economics, and US History classes.

Donations for this project will allow my students to have art supplies for creating materials to show content mastery.

Movies, books, and graphic novels will be used by students to learn course content. Donations to this project will make their classroom feel like a safe, exciting, and comfortable place to learn.
