My Students

I am the reading teacher at my school. I am responsible for teaching struggling readers in middle school. Many of the students that I work with read on a 1st-4th grade level. By the time they make it to middle school they are very well aware of their difficulties and it is my job to help them see that there is still hope.

Being in middle school and not able to read on grade level is very difficult.

I will be continuing to work remotely this school year and would like to improve on my abilities to provide synchronous instruction for my students. For my students that are having difficulty closing the reading gap, I would like to offer them a reading program that has been scientifically proven to work on teaching students to read.

My Project

I will be teaching from home this year. In the spring I was trying to manage writing on a white board to explain concepts while holding my IPad to show the students. With the document camera, I will be able to show students what I am writing without the extra distraction.

We were all trying our best in the spring.

I want to improve on my best for this fall. I want students to be able to see previous examples which will allow them to practice material independently. This idea will mimic more closely what a lesson in school would be like.
