Making our Hydroponic Vision Work with Technology

Help me give my students accessible technology for field trips to record data for our hydroponic and gardening project.

My Project

A challenge is bringing classroom resources to our population.

The iPad provides a multi-sensory approach to students' educational needs.

My goal is to ensure every student has sufficient opportunity to create meaningful work using differentiated instruction. As part of our class Hydroponic unit, we will grow vegetables and fruit from seeds. Additionally, we will take field trips to view varying Greenhouse Gardens across New York City. As many of my students are Special Needs, the iPad will provide the requisite support with colorful visuals to record our visits. The iPad will make the educational process more manageable for students who have varying disabilities, as they can hold it in their hand. The camera provides an added bonus as the students can capture our classroom project in progress. This is an easier approach than navigating with a computer and mouse. An iPad allows us to use new technology and up-to-date resources. Also, the visuals on the iPads provide stimulation and assist with student focus and completion of assigned tasks.
