Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One reason students miss instructional time is that they are often outside of the classroom when learning is taking place to find a tissue, band-aids, feminine hygiene products, etc. This project is designed to supply our classroom with all the amenities of home to ensure we can meet not just their academic needs, but also some of their needs for health and well-being.

Stocking our classroom with tissues, napkins, water, snacks, band-aids, and other similar products helps create a classroom community that feels secure and safe, while also keeping students in their seats to continue learning with as little disruption as possible.

When our students know they can come to us for those basic needs, they know this is a safe place they can always come to, even when we are no longer their teachers! To paraphrase Maslow, if they don't feel safe, it will be harder to learn. Your generosity will help that learning to happen and continue throughout the year.
