My Students

My students live in a diverse neighborhood in the north Bronx in New York City. They are from Bangladesh, Ghana, Yemen, Dominican Republic, Harlem, and more. What they have in common is their curiosity! They are smart, engaged and engaging, thoughtful, and always ready to take on new challenges. My job is ESL teacher, which means that I'm helping them find ways to express themselves, and I love getting to know them. They inspire me every day and I can't wait to see where they go.

My Project

In the first few weeks of returning to in person school, I’ve seen how my students are thrilled to make things with their hands. They love sitting at the big tables in my room with their friends, listening to music I play on a speaker, and working on their art project. The vibe is mellow and chill, and you can see how much they need this creative outlet.

The supplies in this project will give us what we need to create needle felted creatures that everyone can make in the class and then take home!
