My Students

I am tasked with the pleasure of teaching enthusiastic, third grade students in all subject areas. These students are curious, intelligent, and creative beyond all measure. They attend a Visual and Performing Arts Magnet school in Los Angeles. Since our school is an Arts Magnet, we try to integrate art in all forms into as many subject areas as possible. The students at this school come from various backgrounds with various life experiences. Funding for some of our materials is difficult to come by. I appreciate you coming to our page and would appreciate and support you could give.

My Project

Did you know that music is a really fun and effective way to enhance math instruction? I work at a visual and performing arts magnet school and have been using music class to teach my third graders about number systems like fractions at the same time. The students learn to connect the ideas of whole, quarter, and eighth notes to their fraction pages and also perform for our school community. Last year, my students learned how to play many songs and even learned how to write their own music. Combining right and left brain with activities like playing music can really enhance a curriculum. I was just informed that the budget was cut and our school can't provide us with recorders for this coming school year. Please consider helping us to provide this rich educational experience in our school. We need a class set of soprano recorders.
