Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are 6th graders who are eager to learn despite having mild to moderate learning disabilities. Our classroom is self-contained, meaning students have me as their teacher across all subjects (English, math, history, science). Despite their various learning needs, I try to expose my students to high quality, grade-level curriculum using innovative and equitable teaching strategies.
Students in my classroom come from very diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
Unfortunately, many of my students have limited access to resources outside of school. Examples of these resources include internet access, Wifi, and support with homework. Despite these limitations, my students come to school daily eager to learn and engage in academic instruction.
My Project
Our classroom pencil sharpener was recently stolen, so my students often end up losing valuable instructional time because they need to walk to the school library in order to sharpen their pencils. The electric pencil sharpener requested in this project will help maximize this instructional time and provide our classroom with a valuable and very necessary tool.
While in my classroom, my goal is for students to make memories that will last them a lifetime!
In order to accomplish this goal, I am requesting a Fujifilm Instax instant camera along with the appropriate film that will allow me to take photographs of my students during presentations and other significant times throughout the school year. Students can then display these physical pictures in our classroom or share them with their families at home. This is especially important because many of their families do not have the digital resources needed to access these images digitally.
