This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A store has a sale and reduces its prices by 15%. You want to buy a shirt that usually costs $40. How much will you pay? This is the type of real-world problem my students are learning to solve. I teach math to extraordinary middle school students with special learning needs. They are energetic, curious, bright, and bold. And the majority of them are tactile learners who do their best with hands-on learning.

The use of math manipulatives in the classroom is crucial; they make math clearer to understand and more attainable.

When learning a new strategy or topic, students love and anticipate using manipulatives. The manipulatives help them use concrete examples to learn abstract ideas. By donating to our project, you will not only help increase student engagement, you will ultimately help to increase their competency in mathematics.
