Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Writing tools are vital tools for encouraging students' mathematical curiosity and conceptual understanding. In my classes, students solve grade-level problems and need writing tools to help them complete their work and share their math thinking with their group members and with the class. My students work in groups of four, and they often work on hands-on activities such as card sorts which require them to use pencils daily to show their thinking.

I have plenty of pencils; however, many students need to borrow them which puts a strain on our pencil sharpeners.

Last year, we went through 4 of them because none of them could handle the load! I'm hoping these more durable pencil sharpeners will last the year so that my students will always have a sharpened pencil in hand.

I am asking for two pencil sharpeners to avoid students needing to wait in line to sharpen their pencils, thus maximizing their learning time.
