Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Back when I was in school, learning math seemed to be at a different level than it is these days. Today,expectations are so much higher, standardized tests put more pressure on kids, and higher levels of math are taught at earlier ages.

I teach two groups of sixth grade students math and science each day.

We are a Title One school in which the majority of the students come from low income households and resources are few. My students, although eager to learn, are very discouraged about their skills at times because they are low achieving students. Many of them struggle with their basic math skills and have difficulty testing successfully.

My Project

I am putting forth a proposal for some fun and engaging math games that I hope will not only get the students more into their math topics, but enable them to retain the skills they learn. I have a class at the end of each day set aside for enrichment in which I can use these games at the end of each week to make learning math a more enjoyable feat.

Please consider our group for these fun and educational games that will help them achieve higher levels of success and build their self confidence when it comes to learning math.

I am hopeful that these games will help them remember some of the concepts long term through utilizing them in fun ways.
