Making Math MEMORABLE!

My students need math manipulatives in order to help them break down mathematical concepts with visual representatives. Cuisenaire rods and dry erase boards allow students to express their mathematical reasoning using a hands on approach.

My Students

Most of my students live in low income housing, it has been the only place they know. You wouldn't be surprised to hear that their parents had even attended the same elementary school that their child is currently attending. Through financial strains, most, if not all of my students, fall under Title 1 funding and receive free breakfast and lunch. A majority of my students come from single-parent households.

My students and I will be starting a new and exciting adventure this school year- Algebra for ALL!

I teach students with a range of disabilities. Being able to differentiate my math instruction will ensure that each child can tap into their strengths when learning new math concepts. While some of my students have a lot of challenges, it doesn't stop them from trying their best each and every day!

My Project

As a special education math teacher, I have found that my students with disabilities benefit when they are provided with manipulative during the lesson. Manipulatives allow students to construct their own cognitive models for abstract mathematical ideas and processes. They also allow my students to express their thinking through visual representations.

The global economy requires students to have strong analytical skills to compete in college and beyond.

Improving STEM skills and creating inventive thinkers will help my students get college and career ready.

Please help me create these hands on and fun Math and STEM lessons for my students so that they may be able to practice and master skills while working collaboratively.
